Does any of this sound like the last two years?

These are documented features of the perimenopausal transition — not failures of discipline.

What's changing

The gap nobody mentions is protein.

In the research, untrained postmenopausal women averaged 0.81 g of protein per kg of body weight. Those eating 1.2 g/kg or more showed better strength, lower body fat and higher lean mass.

For a 155 lb woman that's about 84 g a day — roughly 28 g at each of three meals.

What the research doesn't say. Muscle loss in perimenopause is real but modest, and partly ordinary aging. Protein alone, without strength training, does little. Where the evidence is thin, the guide says so.

The method

Three levers. Nothing else to think about.

01

A protein floor

One number from your weight, met every day before anything else. Portions that hit it, and twelve breakfasts that clear 28 g.

02

A strength minimum

Two sessions a week, under half an hour each, six movements. The smallest dose the evidence supports. Bodyweight and one pair of dumbbells.

03

A symptom log

Fourteen days of protein, sleep, energy and mood, one line a day. Two weeks on one page, so you can see what changed for you, and what didn't.

Part one · What is happening

Where the evidence is thin

Every guide you’ve bought was confident. So here is where this one is standing on soft ground.

  • Hormone therapy doesn’t appear to do much for muscle.
  • We don’t really know what’s happening inside the muscle.
  • Most of the protein evidence is observational.
  • The effect of menopause is tangled up with aging.

Why this exists

Written from the research, not from a podcast.

Most of what gets sold about perimenopause nutrition is the same template with a different logo on the cover. This isn't that. Every number in the guide is linked to the study or public health source it came from, so you can go and read it yourself rather than taking anyone's word for it. Where the evidence is thin, it says it's thin.

There's no doctor behind this brand, and it won't pretend otherwise. This isn't personal medical advice, and it can't be — nobody writing a guide has examined you. What it is: the published evidence on nutrition and strength for this stage of life, gathered in one place and turned into two numbers you can act on this week.

Before you worry

Nothing here is being taken away from you.

If you've been wary of starting another plan in case it does something to your body, that caution is sensible — and it's usually earned. Almost every eating plan works by subtraction: cut the carbs, cut the calories, close the eating window, drop a food group. Subtraction is where the rebound lives, and where the harm lives.

This one works the other way. The instruction is to eat more protein and lift something twice a week. There's no fasting window, no calorie target, no supplement to buy, no food you're not allowed, and nothing you have to stay on forever. If you stopped on day fifteen you'd simply eat the way you did before — there is no coming off having eaten enough protein.

Fit check

Not for everyone, and better to say so now.

It's for you if

  • You're in your late thirties to early fifties and something shifted.
  • You'll actually do two short strength sessions a week, under half an hour each. The food side alone won't carry this.
  • You'd rather understand what changed in your body than be handed a list of rules.
  • You're on a GLP-1 and struggling to get enough protein on a smaller appetite.

It's not for you if

  • You want a guaranteed number on the scale. This doesn't promise one.
  • You're in treatment or recovery for an eating disorder.
  • You're pregnant, breastfeeding, or managing kidney disease.
  • You want something that replaces medical care.

Before you buy

Questions people actually ask.

Is this a diet?

No. No calorie target, no eliminations, nothing off limits. The whole plan is built on adding one thing — protein, to a floor calculated from your weight — paired with two short strength sessions.

I'm on a GLP-1. Does this still work?

It's arguably more relevant. A smaller appetite makes the protein floor harder to hit, and protein plus resistance training is exactly what the evidence points to for preserving lean mass. It doesn't replace your prescriber's guidance.

How much weight will I lose?

It depends on where you're starting, so any number here would be invented. What the fourteen days do change is concrete: how much protein you're actually getting, how much strength work you're doing, and how clearly you can see which habits are driving your sleep and your energy. For some women that eventually shows up on the scale. For others it shows up first as getting through four o'clock without hunting for sugar, or sleeping through the night again. Both are worth having.

I'm not very good with technology. Is this complicated?

No. You buy, and an email arrives with one file attached. You tap it and it opens — the same way a photo or a bank statement opens. There's no app to download, no account to create and no password to remember. If it doesn't show up, email us and we'll send it again ourselves.

Can I print it instead of reading on a screen?

Yes, and it was designed that way. The meal plan, the grocery list, the symptom log and the tracker are all laid out to print cleanly on Letter paper (or on A4 with fit-to-page), so you can stick the week on the fridge instead of hunting for your phone.

What do I get, and how?

A PDF, emailed the moment you buy, readable on a phone or printed. One-time purchase — not a subscription, nothing to cancel.
